Welcome from the Scituate DTC!
The Scituate Democratic Town Committee represents the Massachusetts Democratic Party in Scituate, Massachusetts. We serve as advocates for Democratic principles and values. We organize to support Democratic candidates and issues. We speak out on public issues of local, state, and national concern.
We usually meet once a month at the GAR Hall, 353 Country Way on the first Monday of each month. Meetings are open to the public.
Members are elected every four years during the presidential primary election. Associate membership is available to interested voters.
Chairman's November Update
We have had an exciting fall. After the successful Candidates Breakfast in August, our next focus was on the Democrat of the Year Banquet. Kevin Butler was the honoree selected for Scituate’s Democrat of the Year. Over 200 people attended the event. It was a success both socially and also moneywise for the SDTC. At the November SDTC meeting Steve May, Candidate running for State Senator, was a guest speaker. Negative ads have already been showing up on tv stations against Democrats running for office. When you see one of these ads, remember your friends and neighbors are seeing them too. It is important to speak up and let others know that the information in the ad is tainted. Speak up politely but firmly in defense of our Democratic values and candidates. The Citizens United decision allows the Karl Roves and his supporters of the extreme right to demonize Democrats and it can be done anonymously. It’s dangerous to let the TV and Radio comments go unchallenged. Holiday times Thanksgiving/Christmas season are coming so enjoy and appreciate what we have accomplished and what we have. Then come out in January refreshed, renewed, and ready to champion our Democrats. Happy Holidays to all.
Chairman's Update-January 2012

August Update
Our booth at Heritage days was a great success. We registered new voters; we gave out information about our SDTC activities; we added names to our e-mail list; we promoted our next big event; and we were received well by the crowds of people. A reminder: Our next big event is Sept. 18th at the Scituate Country Club, 8:30am - 12:30pm Senate Candidates Breakfast, Keynote Speaker U.S. Rep. Bill Keating followed by the Democrat candidates running to replace Scott Brown in the U.S. Senate. Also, present will be the candidates running to replace Bob Hedlund in the Mass State Senate. Six of the seven candidates have confimed and we may have an additional candidate if that person becomes a declared candidate. Some election years are more crucial than others. Next year is such a year. Come join us on the 18th, and idf you can on the 7th.
